Youth Choir Augustana

Germany

The Youth Choir Augustana is part of the “Sing-und Musikschule Mozartstadt Augsburg” and consists of teens and young adults aged from 13-23 years. Most of the singers have undergone training at the Augsburg Singing School, from early musical education to singing classes, school choirs and the “Children’s Choir Augustana”. If suitable, lateral entrants complement the ensemble.

The goal of the work is to offer the young people good vocal and musical training and to promote the joy of singing together in the choir. By consistently adhering to polyphonic singing, a clear distinction is made from the usual offerings at general education schools.

In addition to original literature from the last five centuries, the choir repertoire consists mainly of pop arrangements of current and classic songs from jazz, rock and pop history, for the most part arranged by conductor Dominik Uhrmacher. Folk songs are also rehearsed, as well as compositions by modern choral composers (Rutter, Gjeilo, Bojesen, etc.).
