Back in the 1960s and 1970s, the Göttingen Boys’ Choir made a name for itself far beyond the borders of Göttingen under its founder Franz Herzog. Under professional direction, around 60 singers aged between 9 and 25 dedicate themselves to challenging choral music from all eras of music history – from a cappella works to arrangements of folk songs and pop songs to choral symphonic projects. The choir regularly takes part in the oratorios at the “Göttinger Händelfestspiele”. Michael Krause has been the conductor of the choir since 2003. Concert tours have taken the choir to Japan, South Africa and the USA, among other places. The musical legacy of its founder Franz Herzog is of particular importance. The choir is sponsored by the city of Göttingen and the state of Lower Saxony, among others.
