The Poppenbüttel youth choir at the Marktkirche Hamburg is part of the local choir and is firmly integrated into the church’s musical work. The number of members (grades 7 to Abitur) tripled in the course of 2024 and continues to grow steadily. The choir regularly performs in oratorios such as Bach’s St Matthew Passion or the Christmas Oratorio, organises church services and concerts such as the Quempas. The repertoire ranges from classical church music to jazz, film and musicals. Cantor Matthias Berges has been in charge since 2024.
