Girls’ Choir The Stars

The female vocal ensemble “Stars” was founded on the initiative of girls who, after years in the children’s choir “The Stars” (Zvezdice in Serbian) from Leskovac, wanted to continue to enjoy performing the classical choral repertoire. The most recent successes of the choir as a female vocal ensemble are participation in the international competition VOX MUNDI – Raising youth multicultural awareness through music in Timisoara (Romania), performance at the opening ceremony of the 7th International Choir Festival Herceg Novi (Montenegro), a night concert at the 13th Ledamus Music Festival and a concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of the choir in the National Theater in Leskovac. The ensemble performs a wide range of repertoire and cultivates traditional Serbian music, which is part of the broader Balkan tradition, with its own distinctive sound and character, as well as music of popular genres. The ensemble places special emphasis on movement as a prerequisite for effective interpretation, which is carefully conceived and planned in harmony with the form of the performed composition.
