The Choir of the Church of Saints Cyril & Methodius in Thessaloniki was founded in 1992 by its current conductor, Dr Maria Emma Meligopoulou. It consists of six different sections in which over 250 young singers learn the art of choral singing. Besides Greece, the choir has already performed in Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Holland, Bulgaria, Spain, England, China, Russia, Turkey, Romania, Belarus, Israel, Egypt, South Africa, Canada, USA and Singapore. In 2017, the choir performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, and in 2021, they received the highest rating of “excellent” at the World Choir Games in Flanders. In addition to that, it occupied first place in many other international choir competitions (e.g. Moscow/Russia, Laval/Canada, Venice/Italy, Wernigerode/Germany). Furthermore, the choir regularly collaborates with the Thessaloniki State and Municipal Symphony Orchestras, the Thessaloniki Opera and the Thessaloniki and Athens Concert Halls.
